Kay County Courthouse

The Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) of Kay County, Oklahoma, met in regular session at 9:00 o’clock a.m. on Monday, October 17, 2011, in the Commissioners Court of the Kay County Courthouse in Newkirk, Oklahoma.  Notice of the meeting was posted for public information on October 14, 2011, at 8:30 a.m. at the Courthouse front door, Commissioners Court, and basement handicapped entrance of the Kay County Courthouse in Newkirk, Oklahoma.

 

Chairman Steve Austin called the meeting to order.  Those present were as follows:  Dee Schieber, Member; Tyson Rowe, Member; Brian Hermanson, District Attorney (DA); Christy Kennedy, Kay County Treasurer; Carol Purdy, Kay County Assessor; Mary Ramey, Kay County Court Clerk; Everette Van Hoesen, Kay County Sheriff; Larry Klumpp, OSU Extension; Jody Burd, Kay County Detention Center Director; Harold Hughs, Kay County Detention Center Assistant Director; Ray Ball, Kaw Nation; Scott Cloud, Newkirk Herald Journal; Tammy Reese, Kay County Clerk/Secretary.  (See sign-in sheet).

 

Chairman Steve Austin led the Flag Salute.

 

Motion was made by Rowe and seconded by Schieber approving regular meeting minutes of October 11, 2011, and special meeting minutes of October 11, 2011.  Motion carried:  Schieber, aye; Rowe, aye; Austin, aye. 

 

Jail Director Report:  Jody Burd reported the daily inmate as 181.

 

Motion was made by Schieber and seconded by Rowe approving going out for bid on ballot printing for Election Board.  Motion carried:  Schieber, aye; Rowe, aye; Austin, aye.

 

Motion was made by Schieber and seconded by Rowe approving Cintas Shredding Service Agreement with Kay County Health Department deleting the automatic renewal phrase in contract per Brian Hermanson, District Attorney.  Motion carried:  Schieber, aye; Rowe, aye; Austin, aye.

 

Roads and Bridge Projects, Circuit Engineering District (CED) No. 8:  Commissioner Schieber said crew is building a pad at Ponca Lake for a cran to sit on in order to lift 125 foot beams.  He said on Wednesday he would know if projects applied for will be accepted. 

 

Motion was made by Rowe and seconded by Schieber approving Public Service/Pipeline Crossing Line Application for Wooderson Farms, Dist#3 to install a water line.  Motion carried:  Schieber, aye; Rowe, aye; Austin, aye. 

 

Motion was made by Rowe and seconded by Schieber approving Resolution 11, 12-51 Approving County Commissioners Amended District Boundaries.  Schieber said 20 voters was taken from District No. 2 and put in District No. 1; he explained the boundaries involved and said one precinct will be removed.  Motion carried:  Schieber, aye; Rowe, aye; Austin, aye.
