The Board of County Commissioners of Kay County,
Oklahoma, met in regular session at
Chairman Wilson called the meeting to
order. Those present were as follows: Peggy
Ennis, Vice-Chairman; Dee Schieber, Member; Judy Barnes, Kay County Assessor; Christy
Kennedy, Kay County Treasurer; Everette Van Hoesen, Kay County Sheriff; Wes
Coonrod, Coonrod Construction; Kay County Assistant District Attorney (ADA) Will
Clark; Scott Cloud, Newkirk Herald Journal; Sharon Rowen, Ponca City News; Tammy
Reese, Kay County Clerk/Secretary (see sign in sheet).
The Blackwell Leadership Class was in the
Courthouse for County Government Day and participated in the meeting.
Motion was made by Schieber and seconded by
Ennis approving regular meeting minutes of
Jail Issues: Undersheriff Steve Kelly reported the daily
inmate count showing 110. Smoke detector
in water closet putting out false readings was also mentioned.
No action was taken on ODOT Claim Form for
STP-136C (164) CO SJN 25107(04).
Hiring an additional juvenile transport
officer and miles traveled for transports was discussed between commissioners
and Sheriff. ADA Clark told the Sheriff
he did not need the commissioner’s permission to hire, but needed permission
for additional money. No action was
taken.
Motion was made by Schieber and seconded by
Ennis to approve Contract with Lewis Associates Architect regarding the
courthouse roof by adding to the contract re-caulking windows around 5 bays
when roofing. ADA Clark said it was fine
to add that wording to the motion and then we can negotiate with Lewis
Architect. Motion carried: Schieber, aye; Ennis, aye;
Motion was made by Ennis and seconded by
Schieber to Table bid specs for ladies restroom renovation. Wes Coonrod, Coonrod Construction, presented
specifications for this renovation.
Topics of discussion included: Sewer
line, faux ceiling, insulation, handicapped accessibility. Motion carried: Schieber, aye; Ennis, aye;
