Newkirk, Oklahoma

 

The Board of County Commissioners of Kay County, Oklahoma, met in regular session at 9:00 o’clock a.m. on Monday, February 9, 2004, in the Commissioners Court of the Kay County Courthouse in Newkirk, Oklahoma.  Notice of the meeting was posted for public information on February 6, 2004 at the Courthouse front door, Commissioners Court, and basement handicapped entrance of the Kay County Courthouse in Newkirk, Oklahoma.

 

Chairman Schieber called the meeting to order.  Those present were as follows:  Dee Schieber, Chairman; Laile Wilson, Vice-Chairman; Wayne Leven, Member; Jacquelynn Schroeder, Ponca City News; Rog Allen, KACY Radio; Craig Countryman, Sheriff; Carson Creed; and Carrie Glaser, Deputy County Clerk.

 

Motion was made by Wilson and seconded by Leven approving minutes from the February 2, 2004 meeting.  Motion carried:  Schieber, aye; Wilson, aye; Leven, aye.

 

Ice Storm Disaster:

 

Motion was made by Leven and seconded by Wilson authorizing Chairman to sign letters to Senator Inhofe and Representative Istook requesting assistance in procuring outstanding Federal FEMA funds due Kay County in the amount of $415,687.21.  Motion carried:  Schieber, aye; Wilson, aye; Leven, aye.  (Exhibits A & B, FEMA file)

CSSP Program:

 

The Board received a memo from Judge Boyd concerning funding for the CSSP Program.  He stated that funding from the Department of Corrections would not be sufficient to cover salary requirements due to a shortfall of actual hours payable through the program.  The Board discussed the need for the program and decided to continue the program and to look into finding additional funding for same.

 

Motion was made by Leven and seconded by Wilson approving resolution depositing funds into the JAIBG Trash Cop Cash Fund as follows:
