Kay County Equalization Board met in special session on
Chairman
Estes called the meeting to order. Those
present were as follows: Joe R. Cary, Vice-Chairman;
Floyd Harden, Member; Judy Barnes, Kay County Assessor; Tammy Reese, Secretary/Kay
County Clerk.

Appeal to the Board was heard from Mr. Raymond Ramsey as follows: Mr. Ramsey told the Board his reasons for
protesting. Ramsey said he felt his
valuations were too high based upon the disadvantaged neighborhood and his home
has not been upgraded for 35 years.
Ron
Colberg, Kay County Assessor’s Office, explained that valuations increase five
percent every year until property reaches market value. Mr. Colberg said the Assessor’s office sets
values based on the Oklahoma Tax Commission (OTC) guide, by home and the sales
in the area. Mr. Colberg added he did
give Mr. Ramsey consideration based on the area in which he lives.
