The Kay County E911 Authority scheduled a special session at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 4, 2010, in the Commissioners Court of the Kay County Courthouse in Newkirk, Oklahoma.  Notice of the meeting was posted for public information on April 31, 2010, at the Courthouse front door, Commissioners Court, and basement handicapped entrance of the Kay County Courthouse in Newkirk, Oklahoma.

 

Commissioner Dee Schieber called the special meeting to order.  Those present were as follows: Dee Schieber, Kay County Commissioner; Laile Wilson, Kay County Commissioner; Tim Davidson, Blackwell; Sherry Bowers, Ponca City; Jerry Johnston, Braman; Susan Keen, Kay County Assessor’s office; Nixie Goff, Blackwell Journal Tribune; Tammy Reese, Kay County Clerk/Secretary.  Members absent were: Chairman Steve Austin, Kay County Commissioner; Scott Dark/Divina Love, Tonkawa; Steve Long/Tammy Wingo, Kaw City; Sherry Landers, Blackwell; Harold Harris/Jerry Evans, Newkirk; Butch Herring, Ponca City alternate; Carl Tanner, Braman alternate; Sherry Landers Blackwell alternate.

 

Motion was made by Jerry Johnston and seconded by Laile Wilson approving special meeting minutes of February 2, 2010.  Motion carried.

 

PSAP Collections:  Sherry Bowers said Ponca City has collected-$188,764.66, wireless collections-$131,761.29, expenditures-$436,453.00 leaving a negative balance of $115,927.05; Tim Davidson gave Blackwell’s report stating wired collections-$38,340.00, wireless collections-$48,236.00, expenditures-$24,172.00, cash on hand-$166,000.00.

 

Community Updates:  Sherry Bowers said the city approved buying a new radio system to be purchased out of the 2010-2011 budget.  She thanked the County Commissioners for improved communications with the rural areas by allowing a tower to be installed on the current jail.

 

Tim Davidson, Blackwell, said bid opening for a new system will be held on May 27, 2010.

 

It was discussed because of the location of towers that calls coming in sometimes were directed to the wrong areas.

 

Susan Keen said she was informed that Kaw City has never been activated and she reported this information to Harold Harris.

 

Sherry Bowers told the group calls may be transferred remotely by AT&T, if down.

 

Motion was made by Laile Wilson and seconded by Sherry Bowers to adjourn at 9:23 a.m.  Motion carried.
